Are you an agriculture, food or wine industry development practitioner or do you work in economic development policy?

If YES, then the Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES) would like to extend a warm invitation to attend their 54th Annual National Conference 8-12 February 2010.

The Conference will cover a range of topics highly relevant to agriculture, food or wine industry development, especially in the areas of global markets and value chain development.

Being held in Adelaide for the first time since 2001 the Conference presents a great opportunity for all those involved in research, extension, teaching, policy making and managing agri-food, wine and natural resources to catch up with the latest research. It will also be an opportunity to hear broader perspectives about where these issues fit in the Australian, New Zealand and international economies from some of the world’s leading agricultural and resource economists.

The Conference brings together leading agriculture and environmental economists, scientists and policy makers to address major industry development and environmental management challenges.

For those with a particular interest in the future direction of the agriculture, food and wine industries and the role Government should have, there will be a host of speakers, workshops and sessions concentrating on changing consumer demands and value chain research and development.

The conference includes two full day workshops where there will be an opportunity to listen to and discuss a range of topics that will have a major influence over future industry growth and development.

A host of Australasian and international speakers will be in Adelaide to speak at the 2010 Conference, which promises to be an informative and dynamic event.

• Prof Randy Stringer, University of Adelaide and Gavan Dwyer, Victorian Department of Primary Industries: Role of Value Chain Research in Agriculture and Food Policy.
• Prof Tom Reardon, Michigan State University: Trends in Supermarket Globalisation and Procurement.
• Prof Hamish Gow, Massey University, New Zealand (formerly Michigan State University): Implications for Developed countries Agri-food sectors.
• Dr Wendy Umberger, University of Adelaide: Determining the Relative Value Extrinsic Credence versus Intrinsic Quality Attributes to Australian Beef Consumers.
